Love this background, I'm 67, so I can relate to it all...love the strip and all you do. I get my creativity out in my novels, Being Ethel (In a world that loves Lucy), Being Dorothy (In a world longing for home), Being Alice (In a world lost in the looking glass), Being Wendy (In a world afraid to grow up), and Being Nancy (In a world lost in mystery)...for all Nancy Drew fans!
Loved reading this! And proud of you for keeping it going so long and so consistently well. When I was younger, I envied you and your peers for getting into the papers. But I long since realized that I would've been miserable living under deadlines that way, and I was never cut out to be a professional. Which doesn't at all lessen my respect for those of you who ARE professionals!
I too studied French, planned on teaching it, but like you, left before I got my degree. I too knew about the age you were by those clothes, I wore them when I was 18. I truly enjoy your strip and have for years. I follow you on Comics Kingdom now that Gannet dropped you.

Thank you, Michele! Creativity manifests in a lot of different ways!
Love seeing these early strips. Thanks for sharing your journey into cartoondom!
Seeing those strips...speaking as someone who will turn 35 this November (HA)
Thanks Charles! I never would have pegged over 25. :)
This is a great article. Since there is no subway strike, I'll be at your presentation in Hamilton tomorrow. I look forward to seeing you and Leif.
I'm going to have to pass. I sent a PM. Thank you and have a great time today. I am very disappointed at not being able to attend.
Very cool! Welcome to Substack Sandra.
I love this! Blast from the past!

Very kind, thank you John. 365 days per year deadlines are most definitely a marathon!
Love that drawing of you and your friends. We just used to draw (and make fun of) our teachers at that age!
So great to see, Sandra. I love origin stories, and yours is a good one.
That sketch of Maeve reading on the bed is wonderful
I kind of liked that sketch too. :) Thank you!

Merci, Barbara! And thank you for following on Comics Kingdom!! xo
